SisterStory.org Launched for National Catholic Sisters Week
According to the SisterStory.org website, "SisterStory is a national campaign aimed at broadening awareness of Catholic sisters. Who are Catholic sisters? What are their lives like? What impact have they had over the course of American history? What difference do they make today? Our intention is to demystify religious life – the vows of poverty, celibacy and obedience, the experience of living in community, the desire to belong totally to God – by sharing the stories of Catholic sisters. We aim to connect sisters with young women and to share their impressions in an authentic, first-person 20-something voice."
The website includes stories from sisters themselves, as well as stories from people influenced by sisters. The "Tell Us Your Story" page of the site includes information about what individuals can do to get involved, including a way to send in a story about a sister who made a difference, a way to request prayers from sisters, and a way to sign up for the SisterStory project email list. Get involved today!
The SisterStory project is connected to the larger project of St. Catherine University and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation to raise the profile of women religious in the United States.
